Hezbollah and Israel: The ongoing conflict between them escalates tensions
The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has not ended till now. Sunday morning is the day when Israel carried out a preemptive strike against Hezbollah’s missiles and drones. The main purpose of this action is to stop possible attacks on central Israel.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the war is not ending yet and the situation is becoming worse with the passage of time. In response to this statement Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah stated that their recent military actions had ended and also don’t know about future actions.
With this tension between Hezbollah and Israel the Gaza conflict is also continuing. Additionally, the attack followed 10 months of severe fighting. Due to increasing violence, many people from both Israel and Lebanon have been displaced from their homes.
Israel had anticipated a potential retaliation from Hezbollah after killing their commander, Fuad Shukr, in July. There were also fears that Iran might retaliate for the assassination of a Hamas leader in Tehran, although Israel hasn’t taken responsibility for that incident. Netanyahu pointed out that their recent actions, including eliminating Hezbollah’s chief of staff and the preemptive strike, were part of their strategy to prevent further attacks and protect their country’s safety.
Restrain calls from the international community
The international community wants peace across the world calling for calm. At the same time, the United States stands in favour of Israel to defend itself. Recently a meeting was held between, Israeli General Herzi Halevi and US General Charles Q. Brown. In order to strengthen the air defence system against the Iranian attack, Brown is travelling through Jordan, Israel and Egypt. The purpose of this meeting is also to talk about the Gaza ceasefire and the hostage deal. According to reports, US intelligence helped prevent a Hezbollah attack but was not directly involved in the Israeli operation itself.
Prime Minister Netanyahu told his government that Hezbollah wants to attack Israel through drones and missiles. In order to prevent these attacks, he ordered the Israeli Defense
Force(IDF) to carry out a strong preemptive strike to eliminate this threat. Netanyahu also claimed that the IDF destroyed many short-range rockets successfully. These rockets were launched to attack Israeli citizens and military forces in the Galilee region.
According to him,
“The IDF intercepted all of the drones that Hezbollah launched at a strategic target in the centre of the country.” “We are striking Hezbollah with surprising crushing blows,”
he added.
Nasrallah said there are no results of IDF attacks yet. He also said that their drones and missiles damage the territory of Israel but Netanyahu’s government did not tell about it and hid this information.
If their operation achieved its goal, they see it as retaliation done. If not, they might respond later. For now, he told people to relax and go home.
Nasrallah also said that the battle that started 10 months ago would not be stopped. They won’t abandon Gaza, its people, or the broader cause of Palestine. He explained that Hezbollah planned their attack to match a US summit in Cairo about a Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal. They first delayed their response to see if they could work with Iran and hoped for a ceasefire in Gaza. However, since the US wasn’t serious about ending the conflict, they went ahead with their plans.
According to him, Hezbollah’s action might help people living in Palestine. He also warned that any efforts to silence Hezbollah’s alliance would never be successful.
According to Sean Savett, the National Security Council spokesperson, the United States is collaborating with Israel in every situation. The US will continue its support for Israel and want regional stability here.
Yoav Gallant, Defense Minister, informed Loylod Austin, the United States defence secretary, that in order to save its citizens, Israel had carried out precise strikes in Lebanon. He also said that Israel would do anything to protect its citizens. He and Austin both had discussions to stop conflict and bring peace.
Foreign Minister Israel Katz reached out to many global leaders, asking them to support Israel against what he calls the “Iranian axis of evil,” including Hezbollah. Katz stressed that while Israel doesn’t want a major war, it will defend its citizens as needed.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concern over the rising violence along the Blue Line, which he believes endangers both Lebanese and Israeli civilians and threatens regional stability. He called for an immediate end to the violence and for both sides to follow the 2006 UN ceasefire resolution.
