Policy Paper: House of Commons Seminar: UN Strategy in Yemen

Earlier this year, the United Nations warned that the crisis in Yemen remains the world’s worst humanitarian disaster. An estimated 24 million people (80% of the population) are in need of protection and assistance. The number of people in acute need are at a staggering 27% higher than last year.

Then what is the nature of the UN’s strategy for handling the disaster in Yemen? International United Nations Watch held a public seminar in the House of Commons in collaboration with All Party Group for Yemen, which was hosted by MP Keith Vaz along with lawmakers, academics, and journalists to review and discuss this topic.

At the seminar, the speakers discussed the UN’s response to the food crisis, reviewed UN efforts to solve the political crisis, and placed the topic within the context of war crimes, justice, and accountability.
