From Gaza to Lebanon: How Israel’s strategy targets Hezbollah amid rising violence

by Analysis Desk October 28, 2024 0 Comment

Israel launched an airstrike on Hezbollah in Lebanon on Monday, resulting in heavy destruction. According to the report, approximately 492 people lost their lives, and tens of thousands were forced to flee from their homes. Israel strike day was one of the worst days for the Lebanese people. Israel told civilians to evacuate areas, where Hezbollah was concealing weapons. The nation insists that it does not want to fight with the Lebanese people, and only wants to target Hezbollah.

The roads became chaotic, especially when families tried to escape. Families packed their cars with loved ones and belongings. One person shared how frightening it was to leave everything behind while driving to Beirut. To provide refuge, the Lebanese government opened 89 shelters for more than 26000 people who escaped from the violence. This situation highlights how bad the incident is that affected the normal people who just want to save their lives.

Due to increasing tension in northern borders, Israel is shifting its military focus. Now the nation wants to target Hezbollah in Lebanon rather than Hamas in Gaza. Hezbollah which gets strong support from Iran, has been firing rockets into Israel in response to the airstrikes. Reports indicate that Israel has targeted around 1,600 Hezbollah positions, including launchers and command centers in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.

Casualties in Lebanon

This ongoing conflict has resulted in great casualties in Lebanon. The report also reported the death of many people, approximately 500. Since the Civil War, this figure marks the highest death toll in Lebanon.

The ongoing violence raises concerns about a potential broader war involving the United States and Iran, both of which could destabilize the region further.

However, Saudi Arabia has called on everyone to stay calm and focus on the solution rather than increasing conflict. The United States also does not want to promote the war and make efforts to stop the conflict. However, according to Israeli officials, increasing airstrikes can push Hezbollah to consider a peaceful solution.

One of the United States officials recently showed unease behavior about the complex situation in the Middle East. According to him, the Biden administration is trying its best to stop the violence and ongoing cycle of attacks. Many US officials do not agree with Israel’s approach to the conflict.

Furthermore, the president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian also claimed that Israel is also making efforts to provoke Iran into joining the conflict against Hezbollah. He argued that Israel’s ongoing aggressive actions could result in a larger war in the region.

Pezeshkian warned that such a conflict would create lasting instability, making it difficult for the region to recover. This situation highlights the risks of escalating violence and the urgent need for diplomatic solutions to prevent further conflict.

What is the main objective of Israel?

According to  Yoav Gallant, the Israeli Defence Minister, Monday was a memorable day in the ongoing conflict. This is because it marked the key military victories. He claimed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had destroyed many weapons and rockets. All of these arms have been built by Hezbollah for many years. This statement shows that Israel’s main purpose is to weaken Hezbollah’s military strength.

On the same day, Israel targeted the senior Hezbollah leader, Ali Karaki in Beirut but fortunately, he was saved. While Hamas said that its senior commander, Mahmoud al-Nader, lost his life in this airstrike.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari explained that the IDF targeted various weapons, including cruise missiles and explosive drones. In response, Hezbollah fired missiles at an Israeli military base, setting off sirens in northern Israel. This cycle of attacks highlights the increasing tensions in the region.

Due to rising fighting threats at the border, 60,000 people have left northern Israel. Yoav said that the military action would continue until the people returned to their homes safely. In response, Hezbollah said the fight would keep going until Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza.

Israel said that Hezbollah put the lives of Lebanese people in danger. Because the nation hides weapons in civilian areas. While Hezbollah refuses to accept this claim and says there are no weapons in civilian area.

The foreign ministers of the G7 countries warned that the ongoing conflict could pull in other nations, leading to harm for everyone involved. This shows the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to stop the situation from getting worse.
